James F. Flickinger Sr.

HANOVER James F. Flickinger, Sr., beloved husband and father, passed away Friday evening, June 13, 2014. He was the son of the late Catherine and Earl Flickinger, Third St., Hanover. He is survived by his second wife, Betty Mae; stepdaughter, Billie Jo Warner; and children and spouses, Karen S. Warner and Steve Markle, Sharon K. Lemmon and husband, Bruce Sr., Betty Marie Flickinger (whom he fondly called Sis) and Ronald Lippy, and Michael Keith Flickinger and wife, Sherri. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Warner, Bruce Lemmon, Jr., and Brittany and Trevor Flickinger; sister, Edna Dubs and husband, Ralph; and brothers, Clyde and wife, Connie, John and wife, June, Henry, and Allen. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Dakota, Ashley, Dalton, Brayden, and Caleb. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Marie Keith Flickinger, and eldest son, James F. Flickinger, Jr. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Anna Mae Forney and Teresa Brady; and brothers, Leroy, George, and Norman; as well as son-in-law, Donald G. Warner, Jr. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years. During his service, he traveled with his family to Alaska, New Jersey, Delaware, Okinawa, and Florida. His final tour of duty was in Vietnam. He was a dedicated member of Hanover Fire Company #1, and served for many years as fire police. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 17, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover. A memorial service will be held honoring Jim on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Kenworthy Funeral Home, beginning at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Sagar officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers include Michael Flickinger, Michael Warner, Matthew Warner, Bruce Lemmon, Jr., Dakota Wagner, Brittany Flickinger, and Trevor Flickinger.
