Janet M. George

HANOVER Janet M. George, 82, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, June 9, 2014 at residence. Born May 19, 1932 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Geraldine M. (Heist) Smith. Janet was the loving wife of the late Philip D. Duncan who died August 14, 1992 and the late Richard H. George who died August 22, 2013. Mrs. George was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Hanover. Janet is survived by her three sons, Butch E. Duncan and Benjamin A. Duncan both of Hanover, and David A. Duncan of Abbottstown; her daughter, Sharon M. Ritchie of Biglerville; her step-sons, Steve L. George and Gregory L. George both of Spring Grove, and her step-daughter, Cindy A. Schrum of York; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Gary Smith of Hanover; and her sister, June M. Clapper of Hanover. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy H. Smith and her step-son, Richard H. George, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with her pastor, the Rev. Gerald R. Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Spring Grove. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of the VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, especially Janet's nurse, Patty Weaver and her aide, Courtney Brown. Their loving care and compassion over the last few weeks were comforting to Janet and her family.
