John T. Balmer Jr.

HANOVER John T. "Ted" Balmer, Jr., 39, formerly of Sweet Home, Ore., and Waynesboro, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Hanover Hospital. He was the fiance of Amanda Miller of Hanover. He was born September 7, 1973, in Gettysburg, the son of Frances I. (Toms) Balmer Frey of Albany, Ore., and the late John T. Balmer, Sr. John was a supervisor in the construction industry and a member of the McSherrystown Moose. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and had a great passion for music and writing songs. John was a constant thrill seeker who enjoyed snow-boarding, scuba diving, and bungee jumping. He was a huge football fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to his mother and fiancee, he is survived by his daughters, Kiya May Balmer, Rebecca Raelene Balmer, and Miya Chantreal Balmer, all of Mississippi; sister, Laurie M. Balmer and her fiance, Michael Cluck of Hanover; stepfather, William J. Frey, Sr. of Albany, Ore.; stepmother, Kathleen Balmer of Waynesboro; nephews, Michael W. Hayes of Waynesboro and Dimitri J. Balmer of Hanover; and niece, Mariya R. Balmer of Hanover. There will be no viewing. Funeral services will be private.
