Laverne B. Dayhoff

HANOVER Laverne B. "Boots" Dayhoff, 83, entered into God's eternal care, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born September 3, 1930 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Birnie F. and Beulah (Rudisill) Dayhoff. Boots was the loving husband of Shirley R. (Mummert) Dayhoff with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Mr. Dayhoff was a member of Harvest Time Temple, Hanover. Boots worked at DK Hershey, Cramer Tire Company, Sears, and he then opened his own business Dayhoff's Wheel Alignment, and later started B&B Auto Sales which he has owned and operated since 1972. Mr. Dayhoff enjoyed restoring old farm tractors and loved horses. In addition to his wife, Boots is survived by two children, Bruce Dayhoff and wife Diane of Hanover, and Pamela Wolf of Hanover; five grandchildren, Wendy Cover and husband Dwayne, Lisa Gross and husband Ronald, Ryan Wolf, Justin Wolf and wife Amber, Corey Wolf all of Hanover; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Treva Geiman of Littlestown and Shirley Bortner of Spring Grove; and one brother, Rev. David Dayhoff of Cumberland, Md. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond & Marvin Dayhoff and five sisters, Nadine Warner, Arlene Wentz, Dorothy Bange, Evelyn Hershey, and Janet Bortner. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Boots' life will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover, with Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Serving as casketbearers will be: Ryan Wolf, Justin Wolf, Corey Wolf, Dwayne Cover, Ronald Gross and Steve Wiseman.
