Lloyd L. Herring

YORK Lloyd L. Herring, 78, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Lloyd was the son of the late Lawson and Elsie Herring and the husband of Ruby Herring. Lloyd was a musician and loved to perform. Most notably he played the fiddle, guitar and bass guitar. His was widely respected in the musical world and bluegrass was his passion. Lloyd opened for such performers as Patsy Cline, Ralph & Stanley Carter and Doc & Chicky Williams. Lloyd was a member of the West Manchester VFW Post 7374. His interests included antique Harley Motorcycle and antique tractors. During his free time Lloyd loved to travel, fish and raise guinea pigs. He was also active in annual Civil War reenactments. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents Lawson and Elsie. He is survived by his wife Ruby, his son Lloyd Herring, his three daughters, Mary, Delores and Tena Herring; eight step children; several grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Lloyd at the family's convenience. A notice will run at a later date stating the time and place the memorial service will be held.
