Louetta C. Newman

GETTSBURG Louetta C. "Lou" Newman, 92, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village. Mrs. Newman was born in Highland Twp., Adams County, on April 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George & Ora (Brenizer) Currens. Her husband, the late Paul G. Newman died in 1992. "Lou" was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, she graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1937 and was associated with General Lee's Headquarters Museum for over 50 years. She is survived by her daughter, Kay L. Finlon of Charlotte, N.C; her son, Joe P. Newman of Brandon, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Currens, Jr. of Gettysburg. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sue C. Fair; a brother, Eugene Currens; and three sisters, Esther Swope, Faye Shealer and Joyce Rummel. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, with Rev. Michael E. Allwein, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
