P. Doreene Bittinger

NEW OXFORD P. Doreene Bittinger, 83, died Friday morning, November 23, 2012, at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. She was the wife of Donald C. Bittinger, to whom she was married 63 years. Born June 25, 1929, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Beeres) Clark. Mrs. Bittinger was a member of the Hanover Brethren in Christ Church. She was also a member of the New Oxford AARP. Doreene owned and operated her own beauty salon for a time. She also worked at Old Quaker Pretzel in New Oxford as well as Universal Power Master. In addition to her husband, Doreene is survived by her son, Craig D. Bittinger of Hanover; four grandchildren, Julie L. Bittinger of Philadelphia, Gina M. Bittinger of Philadelphia, Becky J. Bittinger of West Chester, and Brian D. Bittinger of York; and one great-grandchild, Marcus Craig Bittinger-Drakes of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale Eugene Clark, William H. Clark, and Alton Blair Clark. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
