Rosville C. Topper Jr.

NEW OXFORD Rosville C. "Ross" Topper, Jr., 88, entered into God's eternal care Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Genesis Gettysburg Center. He was the husband of Grace E. (Dennis) Topper, to whom he was married 60 years. Born November 18, 1925, in New Oxford, he was the son of the late Rosville C. and Theresa A. (Gebhart) Topper. Ross retired from AGWAY Inc. Gettysburg with over 44 years of service and taught fire safety school at AGWAY for 19 years. After retirement he operated Toppers Electrical Repair. Ross was a 1944 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown. Ross proudly served in the Army Air Corps as a Radar Mechanic with the 59th Reconnaissance Weather Squadron during WWII, receiving the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Oxford, New Oxford Social Club, McSherrystown Home Assoc., McSherrystown Fish & Game Assoc., McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, Hanover Amvets, CWV in Bonneauville, East Berlin VFW, American Legion in Orbisonia, and Irishtown Fire Co. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was often referred to as Mr. Agway. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are eight children, David Yealy and wife, Michele of Bonneauville, Jan M. Baadte and husband, Douglas "Chug" of Hanover, Edward P. Topper and wife, Diane of McSherrystown, Denise A. Livelsberger and husband, Kevin "Cork" of Hanover, and Dennis A. Topper and wife, Kimberly, Amanda J. Smith and husband, Timothy, Nancy L. Smith and husband, Michael, and Rosville C. Topper, III and wife, Laura, all of New Oxford; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Barbour of Biglerville. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Andrea Yealy; and six siblings, Anna Hamilton, Pauline Adamik, Gerald P. Topper, Sr., and Frank, Paul, and Doris Topper. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford, with the Rev. Steven W. Fauser officiating. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives will be received for visitation at the church Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 106 Carlisle St., New Oxford, PA 17350.
