Ruth N. Stough

HANOVER Ruth N. Stough, 77, entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, October 13, 2013, at her residence. Born May 1, 1936, in Taney-town, Md., she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. and Roxie R. (Flickinger) Bair. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene R. Stough who died December 10, 2008. Ruth was a graduate of Eichelberger High School. She was the co-owner of the former Pony Bar of Hanover for 29 years. Ruth also owned and operated the Broadway Lunch & Lottery. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed her employment as a housekeeper for the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, #763 of Hanover. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post #14 of Hanover as well as the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Hanover. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kimberly R. Riley and her husband Douglas of New Oxford, Lynne M. Stough and her husband Lenny Gobrecht of Hanover; her four grandchildren, Erica Riley, Allison Johnson, Alex Riley, Corey Johnson; her two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Cameron Johnson; her two sisters, Vivian Eichelberger and Doris Noel, both of Hanover. She was preceded in death by her five brothers. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Ruth's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, with her pastor, the Rev. Bob Burkhart officiating. A time to view and share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to Adams County S.P.C.A., 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325; or to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA 17331. Serving as casketbearers will be Douglas Riley, Lenny Gobrecht, Erica Riley, Allison Johnson, Alex Riley and Corey Johnson. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Kimberly Riley, Lynne Stough and Michael Fink.
