Thomas L. LeDane

HANOVER Thomas L. "Tom" LeDane, 73, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Carolyn E. (Myers) LeDane, who passed away April 3, 2000. Born January 31, 1939, in Newville, he was the son of the late Leroy U. and Evelyn O. (Shannon) LeDane. Tom was a lifelong member of the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, Carlisle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the East Berlin VFW where he participated for many years in their pool league. Mr. LeDane was employed for a number of years with J.S. Raub Shoe Store, Hanover and also worked part time as a school bus driver in Adams Co. He then was employed as a store manager with Schmuck Lumber Co., Hanover, for 24 years retiring in 2001. After his retirement, Tom worked part time for Flatbush Golf Course and enjoyed playing with his friends in a number of leagues and tournaments. Tom was also a member of the Littlestown Eagles, the McSherrystown Home Assn. and was an avid Washington Redskins fan. Tom was well known by family and friends to be an everyday "Jokester". He really enjoyed the time spent with his high school classmates, going out for dinner each month in Carlisle. Mr. LeDane is survived by two daughters, Angela M. Coleman and her husband Bill, Hanover and Noelle S. LeDane-Miller and her husband Alan, Hanover; four grandchildren, Gabrielle Coleman, Mitchell Coleman, Brianna Johnson and Grant Miller; three step grandchildren, Alyssa Mcdonald, Ciara Miller and Lukas Miller; two step great- grandchildren, Ava Mcdonald and Aliannah Mcdonald; and two sisters, Kay Kann, Dickinson, PA and Sandy Hockensmith, Newville. A service to celebrate the life of Tom LeDane will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Rd., Huntsdale, PA 17015 with Pastor Jan E. Custer officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
