Thomas W. Strawsburg

GETTYSBURG Thomas W. Strawsburg, 53, died suddenly at the Gettysburg Hospital on Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was born in Gettysburg, on December 9, 1959 son of the late Edgar Roland Strawsburg. Thomas was employed by Samuel K. Wivell Builders of Emmitsburg, Md., for the past 27 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. Thomas enjoyed camping with his family, gardening, and collecting John Deere items. He loved spending his Saturdays during the sprint car race season at Lincoln Speedway and William's Grove watching his favorite drivers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Frances Kay (Andrews) Strawsburg; his son, Kevin E. Strawsburg and his wife, Crystal of Gettysburg; two grandchildren, Jordan and Rilynn Strawsburg; stepmother, Nadine Kuykendall of Gettysburg; two brothers, Gordon Strawsburg and his significant other, Lisa Elicker of Gardners, and Chris Strawsburg and his wife, Tammy of Biglerville; a half brother, Tony Brown and his wife, Carey of Gettysburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Francis and Ethel Sharrer and Harold and Ruth Strawsburg; and a stepbrother, Mark Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 45 W. High St., Gettysburg, with Fr. Bernardo Pistone, Celebrant. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg and on Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 445 Table Rock Road, Gettysburg, PA l7325.
