Thurlow R. Null

WAYNESBORO Mr. Thurlow R. "T.R." Null, 83, of 13381 Longview Ave., passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born April 17, 1930, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Harold L. and Bessie M. (Rowe) Null. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. Mr. Null was a graduate of Washington Township High School with the Class of 1947. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Bernadine E. "Bernie" (Strasbaugh) Null, were married January 30, 1954, in McSherrystown. They had lived at their present residence since December 1960. Since 1954, Mr. Null was involved in the family business, Null Machine Shop in Waynesboro and Greencastle. He retired in 2002 as president and general manager. His community activities included serving as past President of Franklin County Elected Officials, as Washington Township Supervisor for 12 years, where he served as Chairman for six years, and Washington Township Planning Committee for six years. Mr. Null was also a member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers Chapter #187 and National AARP. He enjoyed working on model airplanes, baseball, fishing, and boating. In addition to his wife, Mr. Null is survived by eight children, Denise P. Null of Laurel, Md., Susan M. Funari (Robert) of Bonneauville, Dennis M. Null of Waynesboro, Lisa M. Patterson (Gary) of Carlisle, Elizabeth N. Geerlings (Rich Rankin) of Frederick, Md., Angela L. Sheeley (Craig) of Waynesboro, and Celia E. Riess (Michael) and Trina R. Panagos (Efthimeos), both of Shippensburg; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother, and an infant brother. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. John B. Bateman, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro.
