HANOVER Allene V. (Nicholas) Jackson, 83, entered into God's eternal care on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Hanover Hospital. She was the loving wife of Rev. Edward U. Jackson for 64 years. Born September 30, 1929, in Lenore, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clyde S. and Anna Mae (Cutlip) Nicholas. Allene was employed with Bata Shoe Co., Belcamp, Md., from 1958 to 1973. She then moved with her family to Hanover where she worked at Freeman Shoe Co. from 1973 to 1981. Allene attended Harvest Time Temple, Hanover, and also was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. In addition to her husband, Edward, Allene is survived by two children, Wanda L. Zumbrum and her husband, Burnell of Spring Grove, and Larry D. Jackson and his wife, Lisa of Hanover; two grandchildren, Kimberly Bender of Bel Air, Md., and Wayne Zumbrum and his wife, Jennifer of Spring Grove; and four great-grandchildren, April Bender, Randy Bender, Jr., Kyle Zumbrum, and Kahle Zumbrum. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward C. Jackson, and a granddaughter, Christina Zumbrum. A service to celebrate the life of Allene V. Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, at Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover, with the Rev. Fred Mummert officicating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial will be private.
