SPRING GROVE Arlene K. (Wire) Lentz, 91, passed away at home with her family by her side on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was the beloved wife of George D. Lentz, who passed away in 1989. Arlene was born in Dover on October 31, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Lottie A. (Oberdier) Wire. She graduated from Dover High School class of 1937. She worked at Bernsteins Shirt Factory in York, National Biscuit Co. in York and BMY in York where the retired from in 1984 at 12 years of employment. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Lischey's Church in Spring Grove, the Spring Grove Historical and Preservation Society, Jefferson AARP and the Ladies of Lischey's. Arlene is survived by her sons, Ronald D. Lentz and wife, Brenda of Flower Mound, Texas and Gerald K. Lentz and wife, Linda of La Crescenta Calif.; her daughter, Dorene Forney and husband, Wayne of Abbottstown; her grandchildren, Shawn, Kevin, Jay and Amy; and her great-grandchildren, Kyle and Jamy. She is also survived by her brothers, Charles Wire of Thomasville, Russell Wire of East Berlin, Leon Wire of Spring Grove and Harold Wire of York; her sister, Phyllis Emig of Emory Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Doris Bienhower and Bernice Hoffman; and her brothers, Gerald, Sherman and Carmi Wire. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lischey's United Church of Christ, 5671 Lischey's Church Rd., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Sarah Rentzel Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service next to her husband in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
