SPRING GROVE Betty J. (Wagner) Garrett, age 87, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Columbia Cottage in Hanover. She was the beloved wife of Walter C. "Bob" Garrett, who passed away in 2010. Betty was born in Spring Grove on October 10, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Maurice Wagner and Elma (Gable) Wagner. In her younger years she worked for Dentsply in York. She was an accomplished seamstress and ran her own drapery business from her home for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, Windy Hill Senior Center, Spring Grove Area Historical and Preservation Society and the Spring Grove Senior Citizens Group. She is survived by her daughter, Susan J. Garrett of York. She was predeceased by her son, Steven C. Garrett in 1988; her two brothers, Ken and George Garrett; and her sister, Jean Seidenstricker. A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with Rev. Daniel V. Biles III officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Lischey's Cemetery in Spring Grove. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
