HANOVER Blanton Baum Shorb, 90, slipped into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Homewood at Plum Creek. He was the husband of Mariana A. (Warner) Shorb, to whom he was married 67 years. He was a man of tremendous faith in God and loved to talk about his Lord to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed speaking and singing silly songs in Pennsylvania Dutch. Mr. Shorb retired from the Glatfelter Pulpwood Company after 30 years of service. He also sold Knapp Shoes for about 40 years and had a small shoe store beside his home on Baltimore St. in Hanover. Mr. Shorb was a member of Hanover First Church of God. Blanton was born in West Manheim Township, on January 29, 1922, to Paul T. and Carrie (Baum) Shorb. He is survived by his wife, Mariana, and four children, Rev. Thomas P. Shorb (married to Yvonne Meckley Shorb) of Coopersburg, Dr. Timothy B. Shorb (married to Dr. Ann Tolley Shorb) of Hanover, Daniel B. Shorb (married to Libby Stiltner Shorb) of St. Augustine, Fla., and Robin R. (Shorb) Norton (husband Kenneth) of Bethel. He is also survived my nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; by a brother, Rev. Clair W. Shorb of Hanover; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn P. Shorb. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday.
