SPRING GROVE Carol A. Breighner, 73, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, March 31, 2014, at the York Hospital. Born November 19, 1940, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late J.W. Paulus Brandt and Dorothy M. (Cook) Meinl. Carol was the loving wife of Robert M. Breighner, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Carol was a 1959 graduate of Towson High School. Mrs. Breighner was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Hanover. She was an accomplished as well as a prize-winning cook. Carol loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed hosting many gatherings for her family and friends over the years. In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her sons, Robert M. Breighner, Jr. and his wife Deborah (Keefer) of Gettysburg, William F. Breighner and Joan Sperlein of Spring Grove, Brian K. Breighner and his wife Vivian (Titter) of Aberdeen, Md.; her daughter-in-law, Debra (Bennett) of Gettysburg, nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her brothers, Kenneth Meinl of Howard County, Md., Rick Brandt of Pond Village, Vt.; her sisters, Cynthia D. Wilken of Manchester, Md. and Lucille Brandt of Belcamp, Md. She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley J. Breighner who passed away June 15, 2013. A viewing will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, PA. A prayer service to celebrate and remember Carol's life will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Carol may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 129 Charles St., Hanover, PA 17331.
