SHIPPENSBURG Edna Geraldine Sheaffer Comerer, 99, went to be with her Lord at her granddaughter's home in Shippensburg. She was the loving wife of Herman (Jude) B. Comerer who passed away July 20, 1980. They were married 48 years. Edna was born September 21, 1914, in East Strausburg. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Blanche (Morgret) Sheaffer of Shippensburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Deshong and Harry Sheaffer; two sisters, Mary Gettle and Jennie Basila; a daughter, Joyce Betsy Comerer; a granddaughter, Wendy Tane Barnhart; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Virginia (Vaughn) Comerer. She is survived by five daughters, Vesta Barnhart, wife of Theodore of Hanover, Barbara Weaver, wife of William of Harrisburg, Margaret (Peggy) Strohm, wife of the late Edward of Newville, Hazel Rinaldi, wife of the late John of Walnut Bottom, and Julia (Judy) Brandenburg, wife of Branden of Boiling Springs; two sons, Brinton Comerer of Shippensburg, husband of the late Dorothy and second wife Katherine, and Herman (Sonny) Comerer of Butler. Mother was a homemaker and did plenty of babysitting the grandchildren. She did many part-time jobs as her children left the nest to keep busy. But most of all, she was a kind and loving mother who could make delicious home-cooked meals for many gatherings at their home in Walnut Bottom. She had 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 step-children. She attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Walnut Bottom. There will be no viewing. Memorial services will be held May 5 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Hrold A. Bolyard officiating. Interment will be at the Rehobeth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research.
