DOVER Edna Mae Mummert, 91, formerly of Spring Grove and Hanover, passed peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Providence Place, Dover. She was the wife of William H. Mummert, who died February 23, 2001. Born September 5, 1921, in Hampton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Amelia R. (Stough) Phillips. Mrs. Mummert was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, doing needlepoint, playing bingo, and doing aquatic aerobics at the YMCA. She was employed with Century Ribbon Mill and then with Doubleday for 21 years prior to her retirement. She traveled the U.S. all the way to California and back. Mrs. Mummert was a member of St. Paul Dubs Lutheran Church, Hanover, where she helped by cooking for many church functions. She was also a member of the AARP. Mrs. Mummert is survived by five children, Eugene Mummert and his wife, Claudia of Spring Grove, Larry Mummert and his wife, Denise of New Freedom, Nancy Nardis and her husband, Dr. Donald of Mechanicsburg, Joyce Zepp and her husband, Francis of East Berlin, and Gail Plitt and her husband, Nelson of Spring Grove; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Hoopert; and her brothers, George, Glen, and Ira Phillips. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mummert will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with the Rev. Craig A. Lantz officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be Elwood Wonder, Shaun Wonder, Joseph Mummert, Jonathan Mummert, Anthony Nardis, and Ryan Bankert.
