XENIA, OH Effie Ola (Martin) McManus, 85, companion of Lonnie Hood, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Liberty Nursing Center of Xenia. She was born October 18, 1926, in Gallia County, Ohio, to the late James Everett Martin and Celia Fuller Martin. She was employed at Revonah Spinning Mills in Hanover, and Rack Processing in Dayton, Ohio. She also owned and operated Mac's Grocery and Middle Street Cafe of Hanover, and Nashville Grocery in Spring Grove. She is survived by her children, Donald R. Saunders, and wife, Joyce of Springfield, Ohio, Caroline Sue Langkam and husband, George of Hanover, and Elwood R. McManus, Jr., and wife, Debra of Spring Grove; grandchildren, Timmy Saunders, St. Paris, Ohio, Kevin Lauchman, Vermillion, Ohio, Dawn Hazelton, Springfield, Ohio, Ryan McManus, York, Shane McManus, Spring Grove, and Nicole McManus, Spring Grove; several great-grandchildren, by Lonnie Hood, her companion of 45 years, his daughter, Lorrie Hood and grandson, Daniel Hood, all of Xenia; and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Arthur, Wilmer, and Earl Martin; and by four sisters, Jessie Taylor, Goldie Saunders, Hazel Johnson, and Alma McGuire. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, Ohio, with Rev. Wesley Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Saturday, until service time.
