YORK Elizabeth "Betty" (Jacobs) Senft, 91, formerly of Spring Grove, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of Ervin S. Senft, who passed away in 1977. Betty was born in Jacobs Mills, on February 10, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Ralph Jacobs and Gertrude E. (Becker) Jacobs. She graduated from Spring Grove High School class of 1938. She retired from Hanover Hospital where she was employed for over five years and prior to that she worked for Saint Frances Prep School for Boys for seven years. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Lischey's United Church of Christ in Spring Grove, the Ladies of Lischey's, Windy Hill Senior Center, Jefferson AARP Chapter #3699, and was a volunteer for York County Blind Association for over 25 years. She is survived by her son, Gary R. Senft and wife, Sally of Spring Grove; her daughter, Joan Wintersteen of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son; and her sisters, Ruthanna Jacobs, Janet Messinger, and Kas Sprenkle. The family would like to say a special thank you to Darlene Minor for all her help and time that she gave to Betty and the family. Following cremation a memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lischey's U.C.C., 5671 Lischey's Church Road, Spring Grove, with Pastor Sarah Rentzel Jones officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church after the service.
