John B. Scott Obituary
YORK John Bradford Scott, 53, after a courageous struggle with cancer, passed away peacefully at his home on December 18, 2012, surrounded by family. He was born July 27, 1959, in Warwick, Rhode Island. John (also known as Jack by close friends) graduated from Warwick's Pilgrim High School in 1977 and attended New England Institute of Technology. In 1989 he moved to Carroll County, Md., and then to Pennsylvania in 2000. He had a varied and interesting career, starting out as a nursing home cook in R.I., and moving into information technology positions in R.I., Md., and Pa., as well as returning to his hospitality roots working for Sheppard Mansion Bed and Breakfast. He enjoyed his work at AWI of York as a senior programmer analyst. John is survived by his partner, Kent Bailey, of York; two children, Shannon (Jonathan) Jones of Cheverly, Md., and Bradford Scott of New Windsor, Md.; his parents, Barbara (Mark) Bourgeois of Port Charlotte, Fls., and Donald (Carol) Scott on Chino Valley, Ariz.; a sister, Sherrie (David) Collins of North Scituate, R.I.; two brothers, Jay Scott of Englewood, Fla., and Jaime Bourgeois of North Port, Fla.; and his former wife, Kimberlee (Mark) Schultz of New Windsor, Md.; along with countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know him. John loved playing his player piano, antiquing, restoring old houses, researching family genealogy, singing with a Hanover choral group, coaching and supporting his children's activities, laughing, being with his family and friends, and participating in Masonic organizations. He was a member of Patmos Lodge No. 348, Hanover; Doric Council of Royal and Select Masters No. 7, West Warwick, R.I., and Calvary Commandery No. 13 Knights Templar, East Providence, R.I. His children love him very much and know that he will always be with them. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery 700 N. George St., York, those attending please meet at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 am. The Etzweiler Funeral Home 1111 E. Market St., York, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are sent to Hospice and Community Care PO Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604; or to the 924N Colonial Ave. York, PA 17403.
