HANOVER John Justus Long, Sr., 62, loving husband of Susan M. Long, entered into God's eternal care Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Born September 17, 1950, in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late John and Stella Palasik Long. He was a 10 year employee of G.E. Tignall in Cockeysville, Md., where he was a mechanical plumber. Proud of his Native American, part Cherokee heritage, he enjoyed the outdoors and nature. Active with his son in Pleasant Hill Boy Scout Troop 118, he was a mentor to many. In addition to bowling with his son, he also loved to watch his favorite Baltimore teams, the Orioles and the Ravens. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John Long, Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Alice Wancowicz of Pittsburgh, and Evan J. Long of Hanover; two grandchildren, Austin and Corinne Wancowicz; two brothers, Benjamin and William Long, both of Baltimore; and a sister, Dorothy Long of Florida. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with a prayer service and time to share memories to follow at 8 p.m. Burial will be private. In addition to other memorials, contributions may be made to Scout Troop 118, c/o Laura Zwolinski, 11 Northridge Drive, Hanover, PA 17331.
