HANOVER John P. Roberts, 76, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the LifeCare Hospital of Mechanicsburg. He was the loving husband of Joann (Dabella) Roberts, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born April 20, 1936, in Staten Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Francis Tolas and Pauline Rubcich. John was a 1954 graduate of the St. Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, N.Y. He served his country proudly as a Specialist E4 with the 14th Armored Cavalry in the United States Army from 1959-1965. John retired in 1985 after 21 years of service as a Corrections Officer in New York City, N.Y. John was a member of the McSherrystown Fish & Game Association and a member of the American Bowling Congress. John enjoyed coaching the Police Athletic Softball League for many years while living in New York. In addition to his wife, Joann, John is survived by a son, Jeff of Jersey City, N.J.; a daughter, Karen Farinelli and her husband, Michael of Spring Grove; and two grandchildren, Nick and Chris Farinelli. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Roberts. Funeral services to celebrate and remember John will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with Pastor Michael Osladil officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
