HANOVER Joseph F. Lake, Sr., 74, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Catherine L. (Kruger) Lake, his wife of 50 years. Born June 4, 1937, in Strasburg, Va., he was the son of the late Joe F. and Agnes M. (Taylor) Lake. Joseph was retired from General Dynamics in Westminster, Md. He was a 1955 graduate of Calvert Hall High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. Joseph was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, McSherrystown Fish & Game Association, Hanover VFW, and Green Springs Rod & Gun Club. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Angela Marie Shiever and her husband, Charles of Taneytown, Md.; three sons, Joseph F. Lake, Jr. and his wife, Michele of Hanover, Charles S. Lake and his wife, Melissa of Lexington Park, Md., and John E. Lake and his wife, Kathleen of Catonsville, Md.; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles E. Lake of Lansdowne, Md., and Thomas L. Lake of Baltimore, Md. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen P. Lake and William M. Lake. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence Sherdel officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Friends and relatives will be received Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Joseph, in lieu of flowers, may be made to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to Hanover Area Council of Churches, 136 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA 17331.
