ABBOTTSTOWN Kay S. Campbell, 70, passed peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center. She was the loving wife of Jim Campbell for forty four years. Born July 8, 1942, in El Dorado, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Raymond K. and Leila J. (Burris) Secrist. Kay was a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in library science. She also attended George Washington University to pursue a master's degree in Russian language. Mrs. Campbell was a member of First United Methodist Church and their Mary Esther Women's Circle, Hanover. She enjoyed doing needlework, cooking and being a member of the Guthrie Memorial Library "Mystery Book Club". Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Jim, her survivors include four children, Kenneth Campbell and his wife Tammy, Rockville, Md., Valerie French, Abbottstown, Winnie Hannon and her husband, Leroy, Salem, Oregon, and Jill Harl and her husband, Mark, Germantown, Md.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Kay Campbell will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick St., Hanover, with Rev. Gregory A. Rapp officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Abbottstown. For those desiring, contributions may be made in Kay's memory to the Autism Society, 4340 East West Hwy., Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814.
