Melissa M. Richardson Obituary
SPRING GROVE Melissa Mae (Hess) Richardson, 53, passed away suddenly at home on July 19, 2012. Melissa was born in Gettysburg on December 20, 1958, and was the daughter, of Luther Hess Jr. and his wife Shelby (Raichert) and the late Dolores (Good) Hess. She graduated from Littlestown High School Class of 1977 and also earned an associate degree in Applied Science from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling Colorado in 1979. She worked as a personal care assistant at Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 for the past 14 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, where she served on the Altar Guild and the church council. She was the Spring Grove Committee woman for the Republican Party and volunteered as a majority inspector at the polls in the Spring Grove Borough on election days. She enjoyed baking, watching movies, walking her dog, playing cards, camping and the beach but cherished the moments she spent with her family. Melissa is survived by her daughter, Sarah J. Richardson of Spring Grove; her son, Jason W. Richardson, of Spring Grove; her brothers, Luther Hess III and Gregory Hess; her sisters, Larissa Schell and Kelly Chaney; and many nieces and nephews. Following cremation a memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Spring Grove with Rev. Daniel V. Biles III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at the church. She will be laid to rest privately by her family at Christ United Church of Christ Cemetery in Littlestown. Family services are entrusted to Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC of Spring Grove.
