Minerva I. Luckenbaugh Obituary
YORK Minerva I. (Stambaugh) Luckenbaugh, 92, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Manor Care North in York. She was the loving wife of Lester E. Luckenbaugh. Together they shared over 72 years of marriage. Minerva was born in N. Codorus Township, on December 26, 1920, and was the daughter of Wilfred Stambaugh and Mellie (Smith) Stambaugh. She was a homemaker and farmer all of her life. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lischey's United Church of Christ in Spring Grove, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies of Lischey's. She was a former member of the Holstein Breeding Association. She also had a stand for selling crafts and canned goods at Roots Market for many years. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, baking, canning, knitting, and she cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lester, she is survived by her son, Richard E. Luckenbaugh and his wife, Barbara of Westminster, Md.; her daughter, Adrienne Messinger and her husband, Larry of Spring Grove; her grandchildren, Jayson Luckenbaugh and his wife, Lynne, Barbara Gieselman and her husband, Mark, Michael Messenger, and Melinda Burnham and her husband, Brad; and her great-grandchildren, Brian, Justin, Jessica, Bryan, Katelynne, and Luke. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her young son, Marvin L. Luckenbaugh; her sister, Ruth Shearer; and her brother, Daniel Stambaugh. Following cremation a memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lischey's U.C.C., 5671 Lischeys's Church Road, Spring Grove, with Pastor Sarah Rentzel Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC of Spring Grove.
