MCSHERRYSTOWN Robert F. "Doc" Niedererr, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 23, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Lois M. (Yerkey) Niedererr, who died January 8, 1963. Born June 19, 1931, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Leon E. and Edna (Carbaugh) Niedererr. Doc graduated from Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown, in 1949, Mt. St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg, Md., in 1953 and University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1956, and practiced dentistry in the Hanover area until his retirement. Doc proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, American Dental Society, past member of Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, and a life member of McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, McSherrystown Home Association, and CWV of Bonneauville. Surviving are three sons, Lee W. Niedererr and his wife, Joan Eltz of Hanover, Robert D. Niedererr and his wife, Catherine of McSherrystown, and Gregg E. Niedererr and his companion, Kay Johnson of Hanover; six grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Jessica, Taylor, Katie, and Kelly; three sisters, Roseann Britcher and her husband, Robert, and Mary Lou Bowman and her husband, Philip, all of Hanover, and Jane Fruchtnicht and her husband, Dale of Charlottesville, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in remembrance of Doc may be made to Annunciation BVM Church Memorial Fund, 26 N.
