HANOVER Robert R. "Bud" Small, 85, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Born January 31, 1928, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Robert Harner and Margaret Eleanor Criswell Small. Mr. Small was a member of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, McSherrystown. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II, stationed at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii. Mr. Small spent over twenty years as Hanover Plant Manager for Vulcan Corporation, Cincinnati, Ohio. Years later, he was owner of Revonah Manufacturing, a company that designed shoe soles and heels for ladies footwear. "Bud," a 1945 graduate of Eichelberger High School was also a member of VFW, Post 6957 and Life Member of The Two/Ten National Foundation: The Philanthropic Foundation of the Shoe, Leather and Allied Industries. Mr. Small enjoyed cruising the Chesapeake Bay on the "Free Spirit," traveling, reading, performing lawn/ landscape maintenance, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed the company of several dogs, but most recently his beloved and rescued cat, "Lucky". He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria C. Spangler Small; a daughter, Coleen Small Foreman of Hanover; a son, Andrew G. Small and his wife, Diane McMaster Small of Spring Grove; one grandson, Bryant W. Foreman of Hanover; and two granddaughters, Marisa R. Small and Madison L. Small of Spring Grove. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry G. Small and Harold Small of Hagerstown, Md.; and two sisters, Ruth Watkins of Hondo, Texas and Eleanor Yingling of Hagerstown, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown with Reverend Lawrence W. Sherdel and Deacon Thomas Aumen. Family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover. Casket bearers will be Bryant Foreman, William Foreman, Jeffrey Hartlaub and William Rineman, III. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, McSherrystown, PA 17344; or York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
