HANOVER Winifred G. Nace, 91, entered into God's eternal care Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Brethren Home, New Oxford. Born December 9, 1922, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Elsie (Martin) Garrett and the step daughter of the late Bernard Garrett. Winifred was the loving wife of the late Burnell E. Nace. Winifred was a member of St. David's (Sherman) United Church of Christ, Hanover. Mrs. Nace retired after 25 years of service from J.C. Penney Department Store in Hanover, where she worked as a sales clerk. Growing up, Winifred worked on her family farm. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crafting as well as jewelry-making for many years to follow. Winifred is survived by her daughter, Brenda R. Mitzel of Hanover; her grandson, Wade Rinehart, her granddaughter, Pamela Sanders, both of Hanover; three great-grandchildren, Justin Sanders, Brittany Sanders, Madelyn Rinehart; and her step sister, Francis Jacoby of Hanover. She was preceded in death by her step brothers, Dayne Garrett, Lewis Garrett, Russell Garrett and Ray Garrett. A service to celebrate and remember Winifred's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, PA, with her pastor, the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Winifred may be made to St. David's (Sherman) United Church of Christ, c/o the Building Fund, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
