HANOVER Mary C. Horan, 96, entered into God's eternal care, Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Homewood at Plum Creek. Born January 5, 1918, in Carroll County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Little) Louey. She was the loving wife of the late Robert C. Horan who died August 3, 1979. Mary was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover. Mary was a 1936 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover. Mary worked for Jackson Shoe, Murphy's 5 & 10, and retired after thirty-four years from the Sears Roebuck Company. Mary was a President, serving for four years, Charter Member and former District President for two years of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 14, Hanover. She was a member of A.A.R.P., the Fitness Center and Lioness Club. She volunteered at the Clothing Bank, Hanover Hospital and Hanover Red Cross. Mary received the National Community Service Award from A.A.R.P. in 1992. Mary is survived by her son, Robert C. Horan and his wife, Sis; her grandchildren, Stephanie Dacey and her husband Dan and Jason Horan and his wife Lisa; her great-grandchildren, Emma Dacey, Nathan Dacey and Olivia Horan; and her sister, Nancy Klunk and her husband Thomas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lewis and her brother, Joseph (Chub) Louey. A service to celebrate and remember Mary's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Timothy J. Kielley officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason Horan, Dan Dacey, Thomas Klunk, Thomas Klunk, Jr., Karen Louey and Ray Sloan. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Nathan Dacey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to New Hope Faith Community, 33 Sunday Drive, McSherrystown, PA 17344; or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, PA 17331.
