GETTYSBURG J. David Sentz, 92, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Hanover Hospital. David was the loving husband of Virginia C. (Harner) Sentz, who died March 10, 1999. Born November 17, 1921, in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late William and Emma (Study) Sentz. Mr. Sentz was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Littlestown, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #6954 of Littlestown, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2226, Littlestown, New Oxford Social Club, and the American Legion Post #14 of Hanover. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Sentz worked as a carpenter throughout most of his lifetime, but retired after 12 years of service from Westinghouse Elevator Plant, Gettysburg. David is survived by his sons, Wayne D. Sentz and Barry E. Sentz both of Hanover; his daughter, Joan L. Hoff of New Oxford; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Sentz of Barlow, Richard Sentz of New Oxford, and Robert Sentz of Littlestown; his sisters, Janet Parrish of Taneytown, Md., and Nadine Combs of North Carolina; and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Ralph Sentz of New Cumberland. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Louella C. Breighner; his brother, Levere Sentz, who died during his childhood; and his brother, Ralph Sentz. A funeral service to celebrate and remember David's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Whitehall Road, Littlestown, with the Rev. John Largen officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 E. Hanover St., Gettysburg (Bonneauville), as well as from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. Full military honors will be provided by the Littlestown Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the .
