GETTYSBURG Philip G. Plotica, 72, died Thursday morning, March 20, 2014, at the Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of Laura J. (Frankowski) Plotica, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara J. (Chmielewski) Plotica, who passed on June 5, 2006. Born March 5, 1942, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late George and Nina (Usko) Plotica. Mr. Plotica was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg, where he was active in the RCIA program welcoming new Catholics into the parish. He worked as a sales executive for ESAB in Hanover, retiring in 2002. He was also active working at the HART Center in New Oxford, where he served as president of the board. In addition to his wife, Phil is survived by his four children, Jane Plotica of Gettysburg, Gregory Plotica of Dillsburg, Mark Plotica of Gettysburg, and Luke Plotica of Blacksburg, Va.; and three grandchildren, Jenna Plotica, Colin Plotica, and Austin Plotica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 W. High St., Gettysburg, with Fr. Bernardo Pistone Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the HART Center, 450 E. Golden Lane, New Oxford, PA 17350; or St. Francis Catholic Church, 455 Table Rock Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
