HANOVER Ray E. Moose, 87, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Hanover Hospital. Born March 1, 1927, in Harney, Md., he was the son of the late Chester J. and Hannah E. (Hoffman) Moose. Ray was the loving husband of Geraldine "Jean" M. (Shetter) Moose, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Mr. Moose was a 1945 graduate of Taneytown High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country proudly in Germany during World War II. Ray was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Littlestown, where he served on the consistory for multiple terms and was a member of the Christian Fellowship committee. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post #14 of Hanover, a life member of the Gettysburg Moose #1526 and a life member of the former Friendship Fire Company. He was also a previous member of the Republican Club of Hanover. Mr. Moose retired from the Hanover Shoe Farms after 40 years of service. He later retired from Gene Latta of Hanover, where he worked for several years as a parts runner. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his daughter, Sharon L. Goldstein of Hanover; his son, Wayne D. Moose and his wife Linda of Hanover; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Merle H. Moose and his wife Mabel of Florida; his sister, Arlene I. Brewer and her husband Vince of Florida; and his brother, Gene B. Moose and his wife Linda of Gettysburg. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank C. Moose, Mark C. Moose and Dale M. Moose. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Christ United Church of Christ, 131 Christ Church Road, Littlestown, with his pastor, the Rev. Craig Arentz officiating. Burial will be in Christ United Church of Christ Cemetery, Littlestown. A viewing and time to share memories will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as casketbearers will be: David Moose, Todd Rummel, Todd Goldstein, Kris Mowery, Merle Moose and Gene Moose. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ray may be made to Christ United Church of Christ, 131 Christ Church Road, Littlestown, PA 17340.
