RED LION James E. Newman, 64, entered into rest unexpectedly on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dawne D. (Rauhauser) Newman whom he married July 14, 1979. Born in Hanover, on May 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Charlotte M. (Kale) Newman. James retired from Caterpillar. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagle's Club, New Oxford Social Club, Hanover Home Association, and the Red Lion American Legion Post #543. He also served in the Air Force Reserves. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica M. Newman of Red Lion; son, James E. Newman, Jr. of Red Lion; four brothers, Nicholas W. Newman and wife, Darlene of McSherrystown, Ronald J. Newman and wife, Lori of Hanover, Earl H. Newman, II and wife, Deborah of York, and Patrick J. Newman and companion, Barb of Hanover; brother-in-law, James E. McMaster of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane McMaster. A Service of Honor and Praise for James was held on Thursday, May 1, at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, with Father John McCloskey, of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown, officiating. Burial was in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Friends of Amazing Kids, P.O. Box 643, Hanover, PA 17331; or to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 104, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
