HANOVER Melvin Arthur Walker, 74, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home. He was the husband of Linda Marie Ellis Walker, his wife of 54 years. Born February 14, 1940, in Randallstown, Md., he was the son of the late Melvin Arthur and Mildred Elaine Clagett Walker. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Lake Marburg Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Reese Vol. Fire Co. He drove Figure 8 race cars, enjoyed camping, and most of all, loved his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Jerry Cowan of Spring Grove, Elaine and Michael Caler of Hanover, and Judy and Ronnie Yarger of Spring Grove; and siblings, Geraldine Ruth of York, Linda Riley of Randallstown, Md., and Carroll and Jimmy Clagett, both of Maryland. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Md., on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Quay F. Reiser, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville, Md. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
