GETTYSBURG Eleanora H. Dillon, 88, died peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Born May 28, 1926, to Charles W. and Pearl (Golden) Hykes, she lived her entire life in Adams County. Eleanora was the proud mother of Linda K. Dillon of Gettysburg, Jack Dillon (wife Beverly) of Missouri, Randy Dillon (wife Christine) of Biglerville, Gary Dillon of Gettysburg, and Jeff Dillon of Hanover. She is also survived by her brother, William Hykes of Florida. She was pre-deceased by her eldest son, Larry C. Dillon. She was a wonderful, loving grandmother to her 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Eleanora worked as a waitress, seamstress, factory worker, and clerk. She had a great love of the outdoors, with an impressive knowledge of flowers and birds. She especially loved cardinals, saying they were the most beautiful bird ever. She was an avid NASCAR fan, rooting on her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and loved her favorite country singer, Alan Jackson. Eleanora also dearly loved her Malti-Poo, Clancy O'Riley. In addition to her parents and son, Eleanora was pre-deceased by siblings Jim Hykes, Richard Hykes, Betty Weaver, and Elsie Campbell. A celebration of life will be held July 18, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m., with a brief service starting at 6:30 at the American Legion Post 202, Gettysburg, PA. Monahan Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
