THOMASVILLE Vermel Ola Valentine, 91, passed away August 7, 2014, at York Hospital. Vermel was the daughter of the late Rozier Bell and the late Ola (Barefield) Bell, and the wife of the late James D. Valentine, Sr, who she was married to for 57 years. Vermel is survived by her children, Phyllis (Valentine) Simpson and James D. Valentine, Jr, her grandchildren, Sheresa Simpson-Rice and her husband Karl, Kacinda (Simpson) Belk and her husband Michael, Christica (Simpson) Boyer and her husband Todd, Joshua Valentine and his wife Amy, Billida (Simpson) Cox and her husband Thomas, and Travis C. Valentine, and her treasured great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Hendrix and Mary Atwood, and her brother Edward Bell. Vermel grew up in Mississippi and Alabama with her nine siblings. She moved to Pennsylvania after marrying her husband and settled in Juniata County before moving to York County in 1955. She retired from SKF and the Brethren Home. She enjoyed gardening and her family took great pride in her work ethic. A memorials service will be held at 1 PM on October 5, 2014 at St. Paul's "Red Run" U.C.C., 6623 Davidsburg Rd, East Berlin. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.
