HANOVER Richard "Dick" H. Martz, 72, died as a result of an accident in Hanover on Thursday, August 25, 2011. Born March 5, 1939, in Hanover, he was a son of the late Richard K. and Mary E. (Waybright) Martz. Richard was a graduate of Eichelberger High School, class of 1957. He played the trombone in the high school band and also played in a jazz band. He went on to Penn State University, graduating in 1961 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He then worked at Martin Marietta, Silver Spring, Md., traveling to Europe as an electrical engineer. After returning to Hanover, Richard worked at Snyders of Hanover for 28 years. In addition, Richard was an Eagle Scout, an avid reader, and regularly attended the H.A.R.T. Center, New Oxford and Adams/Hanover Counseling services New Visions program. His survivors include three siblings, D. Leone Musselman and her husband, James of Hanover, M. Elaine Bower and her husband, Ron of Arnold, Md., and Dr. Mark Noel Martz and his wife, Ulla of Orefield; eight nieces and nephews, Sharon Cramer, Sally Michael, Philip Musselman, Michael Musselman, Erik Martz, Ingrid Martz-Shelton, Sarah Martz, and Anna-Mari Martz; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Richard will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 1, at Grace United Church of Christ, 100 Fourth St., Hanover, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Bouchard officiating. A time to express condolences and share memories with the family will be from 12 noon until the time of service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Mt.
