Evelyn Baker Obituary
EAST BERLIN Evelyn (Manspeaker) Baker, 94, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg. She was the wife of Walter E. Baker, Sr., who died October 3, 1980. She was born September 16, 1917, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of the late Lewis E. and Margaret E. (Youngblood) Manspeaker. She was a seamstress for various garment companies most of her life and enjoyed sketching and drawing. Evelyn is survived by a son, Walter E. Baker, Jr. and his wife, Debra of Athens Ga.; a daughter, Ramona E. Baker Garrity of Boca Raton, Fla.; a son, William B. Baker of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Dorothy D. Emig of East Berlin; a daughter, Mary Jane Schuman and her husband, Tony of Orrtanna; a son, Richard M. Baker of Hanover; a daughter, Julie F. Baker of York; a son, David B. Baker and his wife, Debra Newell of York Haven; 23 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a half brother, Dennis L. Wine of Hunterstown. She was predeceased by two half sisters, Frances V. Rhodes and Caroline M. Funt; and a half brother, Paul H. Wine. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with Pastor Shawn Berkebile officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Abbottstown. A viewing will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
