CITY, KY Carroll Singer Haines, 88, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Carroll County, Md., he was a son of the late Walter Turner and Mary Pauline Wantz Haines. He was a retired employee of Baltimore Gas & Electric, a United States Army veteran, and a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Haines of Cave City; one daughter, Carol Ann DeGroft (Charles) of Cave City; two stepchildren, Susan L. Maseth (Robert) of Westminster, Md., and Calvin H. Lucy (Kathy) of Littlestown; two grandchildren, Jamie DeGroft (Robin) and Skyler DeGroft, all of Cave City; two stepgrandchildren, Ashton Maseth and Emily Maseth, both all of Westminster; one great-grandchild, Riley DeGroft of Cave City; four brothers, Edward Haines of Taneytown, Md., Alton Haines of Cave City, Ky., Delano Haines of Grantsville, Md., and Leonard Haines of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Lois Haines, Mary Magin, Phyllis Wilt, Walter Haines, Jr., Margaret Haines, and George Haines. Mr. Haines chose cremation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, Glasgow, Ky. Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
