MD Robert Clinton "Bob" Davis, Jr., 81, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the Carroll Hospice Dove House one day after his admission. He was the husband of Elinor Young Davis, his wife of 51 years, who died in 2002. Born March 15, 1931, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Clinton Robert Davis and the late Lina Francis Uhler Davis. He retired from the Science Environmental Division in Towson, Md., where he worked as a scientist. He served in the United States Navy from October 1948 to June 1951. He was a member of the American Legion Carroll Post No. 31, and a member and past president of the Westminster Lion's Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Recipient award, the club's highest honor. He also served as past director of the Maryland Eye Bank, and was widely known as the White Cane Chairman across the state of Maryland. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Elwood Albin of Littlestown, with whom he resided, Janine and Greg Gist of Westminster, and Linda and Robert Carey of Montgomery Village, Md.; four granddaughters, Jacqueline Albin Spriggle of Port Royal, Jennifer Albin Myers of Glenville, and Ashley and Elizabeth Carey of Montgomery Village; four great-grandsons, Matthew and Samuel Spriggle of Port Royal, and Cooper and Tucker Myers of Glenville; brothers, Larry Davis of Hanover, Steven, Len, and Lee Davis, all of Westminster; sisters, Gloria Maier and Lavenia Doan, both of Westminster; devoted friend, Donna Kibler and her family of Westminster and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christine Cash Newman; sisters, Rebecca Barnes and Charlotte Davis; and a brother, Cedric Davis. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, where the Westminster Lion's Club will hold a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Shutt officiating. Interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Medical Eye Bank of Maryland, 815 Park Ave., Baltimore, MD 21201; or Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
