BIGLERVILLE Ruth E. Adelsberger, 94, formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, November 30, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn, in Biglerville, surrounded by her family. Her husband of 69 years, Norman H. Adelsberger, died March 19, 2008. She was born in Fairfield, on June 30, 1918, daughter of the late Albert and Nellie (Wantz) Flenner. Mrs. Adelsberger was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in McKnightstown. She had worked for many years at Geigley & Benner's Packing House in Fairfield. She was an avid quilter. Over the years she quilted and pieced well over 200 quilts. She also did embroidering and crocheting for her children, grandchildren, and friends. She is survived by her three children, Carolyn M. Topper and her husband, Paul of Biglerville, Ray E. Adelsberger and his wife, Kathy of Littlestown, and Janet L. Myrick and her husband, Ronald of Spring Grove; nine grandchildren, M. Lynn Becker of Gettysburg, Daniel Topper and his wife, Dina of Gettysburg, Christina Franey of Nashville, Tenn., Tamara Mayers and her husband, Bill of East Berlin, Lisa Baker and her husband, Bill of Cheshire, Conn., Kirk Adelsberger and his wife, Michelle of Nashville, Jodi Dillman and her husband, Dennis of Gettysburg, Karen Ford and her husband, Greg of Providence, R.I., and Jeff Myrick and his wife, Kristen of Perkasie; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Loretta McGlaughlin of Fairfield and Clara "Dolly" Hardman of Fayetteville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice Flenner Dick; and two brothers, John and George Flenner. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, with the Rev. Austin L. Chinault and Dennis Dillman officiating. Burial will be in McKnightstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Myrick, Greg Ford, Kirk Adelsberger, Dennis Dillman, Daniel Topper, and Bill Mayers.
