HANOVER James A. Klunk, 85, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, December 3, 2012, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Eva B. (Brady) Klunk who died February 9, 2007. Born August 22, 1927, in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late David and Helen (Hagerman) Klunk and the stepson of Marie (Carbaugh) Klunk. Jim was retired from Bethlehem Mines after 23 years of service. Jim proudly served with the U.S. Navy during WWII receiving the Pacific Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover, a life member of the McSherrys-town Home Association, McSherrystown K of C, Hanover American Legion and New Oxford Social Club. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards. Surviving are two sons, Ronald J. Klunk and his wife, Betty of Hanover and Stephen H. Klunk and his wife, Sharon of York; two brothers, Lawrence "Butch" Klunk of McSherrystown and Patrick Klunk of Florida; three grandsons, Matthew, Kevin and Alexander Klunk; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Athan and Bryson Klunk. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew M. Klunk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, with Rev. John D. Schmalhofer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers at 8 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin, Alexander, Matthew, Butch, Ken Klunk and Charlie Bell.
