HANOVER Hilda L. Kopp, 93, entered into God's eternal care on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Genesis Healthcare Gettysburg Center following a period of declining health. Born on December 3, 1919, in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Ferdinand C. and Daisy Wildasin Day. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 61 years, Oscar W. Kopp in 2000; a son, MSgt William Kopp, who died in 1988; a sister, Leah Alwood and five brothers, William, Stanley, David, Samuel and Denton "Boob" Day. She attended Center Street School and later worked at Barnhart's Market, Holland Restaurant and Hanover Pen Co. A deeply compassionate person, she volunteered her time with Westminster Rescue Mission, Hanover Hall and cared for elderly people in their homes. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and had the distinction of being the second oldest member of the original church. She taught Sunday School, enjoyed the Ladies Circles and was known for her delicious doughnuts that she made for the Annual Doughnut Fundraiser. She was young at heart, enjoyed jokes and pranks and never met anyone that she would not call a friend. She is survived by four sons, James Kopp and his wife, Barbara of Pleasant Valley, Md., Eugene Kopp and his wife, Louise of Hanover, David Kopp and his wife, Shari of Thomasville and Denny Kopp and his wife, Joyce of Hanover; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Treva Hoke of Hanover and Iva Krebs of New Oxford; a step-brother, Pius Kaltreider of N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church with The Rev. Richard D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive, Hanover, PA 17331.
