HANOVER Merle D. Johnson, 86, loving husband of Dorothy Clark Johnson, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Hanover Hospital after a long illness. Born July 29, 1927, in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late Melvin and Mamie Koehl Johnson. He loved bowling, fishing, and following the Baltimore Orioles. He raced homing pigeons and was a longtime member of the American Legion in Baltimore. Merle will always be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor. Surviving, in addition to his wife of nearly 64 years, are his three children, Terry M. Johnson of Baltimore, and Becky Johnson, and Kim Davis and her husband, Larry, all of Glenville; three grandchildren, Shannon France and her husband, Jason of Hanover, and Kacie and Kyle Davis, both of Glenville; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Harris of Glenville.
