DOVER Floyd W. Shoemaker, Jr, 83, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of the late Delores J. (Sullivan) Shoemaker, his wife of 62 years, who died June 28, 2012. Floyd was born December 30, 1929, in Dover, the son of the late Floyd W. and Ethel V. (Richie) Shoemaker, Sr. Floyd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a self-employed contractor. He was the founder of Flo-De-On Campground in Dover, built Pine Hill Campground and Cedar Lake Campground both in Dover, and was the founder of the Cedar Lake Campground Church. He was a member of the West Manchester Fish and Game, East Berlin V.F.W., American Legion in Shiloh, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved gardening. Floyd is survived by a son, Floyd W. "Buggs" Shoemaker, III, and his wife, Sandy of Dover; a son, Ray A. Shoemaker and his wife, Diane of Dover; a daughter, Lori S. Sunday and her husband, Paul of East Berlin; a son, Steven L. Shoemaker and his wife, Sally of Thomasville; a daughter, LeAnn V. Starner and her husband, Gregory of Dover; his beloved granddaughter and caregiver, Feleicia McCaulsky, of Dover; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Owen Shoemaker and Wayne Shoemaker both of East Berlin, and Donald Shoemaker, and Leonard Shoemaker, both of Dover; two sisters, Connie Raber of Dover, and Shirley Eisenhart of New Oxford; and two loyal friends, Max Klinefelter of York, and Harvey Deardorff of Ariz. He was predeceased by two sisters Kay Brandt and Hazel Stambaugh; and a brother, Dale Shoemaker. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's "Red Run" U.C.C., 6623 Davidsburg Rd, East Berlin. Burial will be in Red Run Church Cemetery. Viewings will be held at the church on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Floyd Shoemaker, III, Ray Shoemaker, Steven Shoemaker, Chad Shoemaker, Jaron Starner, and Shawn Sunday.
