EDGEGROVE Donald J. McKim, 90, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center. He was the husband of Viola M. "Sis" (Weishaar) McKim his wife of 67 years. Born November 25, 1922, in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Roy and Gladys (Adams) McKim. Don retired working most of his life as a brick mason. He was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, the McSherrystown Moose, McSherrystown Home Assoc., McSherrystown Fish & Game Assoc. where he was a charter member, Hanover American Legion, Hanover VFW, Catholic War Veterans in Bonneauville, and a member of SAVES. Don proudly served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater, with the U.S. Army. Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Rodney McKim and his wife Eileen of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Donald McKim and his companion Janie Cookson of New Oxford, Linda "Lin" Murren of McSherrystown, Roy McKim and his wife Patti of New Oxford, and Steven McKim and his wife Cindy of Bowdinham, Maine; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Burnell "Shorty" McKim and Robert McKim. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, February 4th at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, with Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers held at 4 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be: Rodney, Donald, Roy, Steven, and Tyler McKim, and Devon Craig.
