FAYETTEVILLE Jamie M. Boyers, 41, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Chambersburg Hospital after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. Born March 21, 1971, in Hanover, she was the daughter of Yvonne M. (Kress) Boyers of Hanover and the late Gary A. Boyers, Sr. Jamie loved life and was very adventurous in her travels around the world. She served her country proudly for 21 years in the U.S. Army and served in the Iraq War. She retired in October, 2012 earning the rank of Staff Sgt., and was awarded the commendation, good conduct, army achievement, reserve components achievement, national defense service, global war on terrorism service, and Iraq Campaign medals. She was also a loving daughter, mother, and sister, and loved her extended family. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her daughter, Marissa, going on vacations from New York to Florida and taking cruises. Jamie also loved all of her pet dogs. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Marissa J. Boyers of Fayetteville; a brother, Gary A. Boyers, Jr. of Hanover; her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Kress of Hanover; and many many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A service to celebrate the life of Jamie M. Boyers will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with the Rev. Cheryl Filson officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, where full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Craig Redding, Troy Kress, Andy Kress, Joseph Kress, Ian Jacobs, and Paul Quesenberry.
